Lauren Milligan, Lizzy Harrison both extend stays with Oaklands Wolves

Oaklands Wolves have retained Lauren Milligan and Lizzy Harrison ahead of the 2020-21 WBBL season.

Harrison is set for her fifth season in the top-flight having returned to the club in 2016 after four years at Newman College, while Milligan signed for the Wolves the following summer.

The duo have become key pieces at Oaklands on-and-off the court as they also play a pivotal role in nurturing the club’s young talent with Milligan also taking up the position of head coach of Oaklands’ WEABL side.

“I have known Lauren for a very long time and I have always believed she had the materials to make it as a great coach,” said senior head coach, Lee Ryan.

“Her natural competitiveness will bring out the best in junior players – as it does her teammates in the WBBL – and we are very lucky to have her representing the Wolves on both fronts this season.”

Milligan added: “I can’t wait for the season to start. This year, I’m surrounded by a great group; we have some familiar faces and some excellent additions. I’m excited to show our competitive energy in the league.”

Meanwhile, Harrison was enjoying her best campaign to date in the WBBL before its early termination having averaged 9.9 points per game through 16 appearances in the league.

“After everything 2020 has thrown at us, I’m just so happy to be able to step on court again and be back surrounded by all the amazing people at this club,” commented Harrison.

“This is one of the most talented Wolves teams I’ve been a part of, and I’m really excited to see what we can do this season.”

Oaklands have also confirmed the returns of Hungarian international duo Kata Fulop and Dorka Boros.
