Zaire Taylor Leaves London Lions for France

2014 BBL league and playoff final MVP Zaire Taylor has left London Lions to join French NM1 club Blois Basket 41.

The American guard joins GB Olympian Eric Boateng, who is another newcomer with Blois after he signed last month.

Taylor took the BBL by storm with some breathtaking displays over three seasons with three different teams having played for both Leicester Riders and Worcester Wolves before switching to the capital.

The Lions announced today that Nigel Lloyd is taking over as the new Head Coach and he will have to find a new talisman with Taylor becoming the latest in a string of players to ditch the BBL for a move across the channel.

Taylor played in over 100 BBL games and last season averaged 15.7 points per game for the Lions including a 41-point haul against Worcester in the BBL playoffs.

The 28-year-old won five trophies in the BBL with a treble achieved with Leicester before helping Worcester to an historic double the following season.

Elsewhere, ex-Worcester forward Robert Thurman has joined Union Tours in France’s NM2 division, while Sheffield Sharks have re-signed German forward Patrick Horstmann for a third season.
