Former England U18 International Sedale Hanson-Young Joins Cheshire Phoenix

Cheshire Phoenix have added 18-year-old point guard Sedale Hanson-Young to their growing roster for the 2015-16 season.

The Birmingham-born youngster is a former England international at under-16 and under-18 level and will make the step up to the BBL for the first time.

Hanson-Young will continue to play in the EABL for Team Birmingham as well as studying at Bourneville College, whilst giving Head Coach John Lavery depth at the guard position.

“We are looking forward to working with Sedale, he is an extremely talented young man and we are excited to be part of his development of what looks to be a bright future,” said Lavery. “He will also be a fantastic role model to our new junior program.”

Hanson-Young came up clutch with the game-winning 3-pointer to help Birmingham A’s claim the U18 National title in 2014.

The 6’1″ guard also competed at the second Hoopsfix All-Star Classic at Brixton Rec in May, taking part in the under-19 game.

Cheshire’s current roster now stands at four players with Hanson-Young joining captain David Aliu, Martyn Gayle and American guard Sean McGonigal.
