Devon van Oostrum Loaned to Cibona

Great Britain point guard Devon van Oostrum has been loaned out to Croatian side Cibona Zagreb for the 2014-15 season.

DVO took to Instagram to confirm the news, with rumours having started circling over a month ago after Eurohoops first reported the move. He captioned the below picture with:

“New season… New team… New country… Excited and humbled to get the opportunity to play for such a historic team.”

After signing with Laboral Kutxa in 2009 on a multi-year contract, van Oostrum has been loaned out to the likes of Spanish sides Tarragona and Caceres, before playing in the ACB and Euroleague last season with Laboral. He averaged 1.1 points and 1.2 assists per game in the Liga Endesa, as minutes were hard to come by.

It will be his first professional season outside of Spain as he joins the reigning Adriatic champions and Croatian league runners up.

Devon, who averaged 7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game this summer in GB’s EuroBasket qualifiers, follows in the footsteps of fellow GB point guard Andrew Lawrence, who played in Croatia last season with KK Zadar.
