Manchester Magic U16 Boys Playoff Title

Manchester Magic added a U16 boys playoff title to go with their national cup title with a 90-73 win over Newham Youngbloods on Sunday at the NBPC in Manchester.

Demi Babalola picked up his a Finals MVP to add to his Cup Finals MVP, finishing with 19 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, three steals and four blocks, as the Magic won their second under-16 boys playoff title in the last three years.

Manchester reeled off a 30-13 final quarter that included five three pointers to erase any chance of a Newham Youngbloods comeback and secure the win.

“Very proud of them,” Magic Head Coach Tom Paraskeva said after the game.

“More proud of the season they had. Winning it’s great but they’ve put in a lot of effort that people don’t see. Practicing 4 or 5 times a week, balancing that with GCSEs, (they’ve been) really professional I think from our guys, proud of the whole season we’ve had.”

GB point guard Jack Walton added 17 points and 11 assists, Tom Richardson had 21 points, while Rufus Everatt added 15.

Newham were led by 18 points from David Banjoko, with Micael Filho added 16.
