Russia Rout Great Britain

Great Britain are still seeking their first victory of the summer after being routed 87-51 by Russia in San Antonio on Monday night.

Dan Clark was GB’s leading scorer with 12 points, whilst Eric Boateng finished with a solid 11 point, 14 rebound double double.

With Luol Deng, Pops Mensah Bonsu, Joel Freeland and Rob Archibald not suiting up, it was an opportunity for head coach Chris Finch to examine some of his fringe players.

Finch reflected:

“Russia is a very tough team and this game provided an opportunity for our young guys to play against a battle ready team.

“Regardless of the score, this provides a great opportunity to evaluate. We created some good scoring opportunities but weren’t able to finish.”

Timofey Mosgov led Russia with 16, whilst Vitaliy Frizon added 13 and Andrei Kirilenko had 11 (source).

GB will seek revenge on Thursday night when the two teams meet again in Houston.

No surprise considering who didn’t play. However an improvement must be made in the next game is a similar team plays again. Once we get to europe we will then start going very hard for the wins.
