GB roster revealed for EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers

Head Coach Marc Steutel has named his 24-man long list for the GB Senior Men’s squad for the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers later this month.

Included in Steutel’s first squad since being confirmed as the permanent Head Coach in June 2023, are four GB squad debutantes in Dan Akin, Jubrile Belo, RJ Eytle-Rock and Josh Ward-Hibbert.

Meanwhile, there is a return to the bench for former Head Coach Alberto Lorenzo as an assistant, after he resigned in 2019, along with Bristol Flyers coach Andreas Kapoulas. Gareth Murry, who assisted in the last window, is not included.

Only 14 of the 24 will make it into training camp in Newcastle, as GB face the Netherlands first in a home game on 23 February at the Vertu Arena in Newcastle and will then play the Czech Republic just three days later on 26 February.

“We understand the challenge that lays ahead in what will be a very competitive qualifying group and we are excited to start this campaign,” Steutel said.

“We face two opponents in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic who we have not seen in recent years and a powerhouse in Greece who we have played against in World Cup and EuroBasket competition. We are all focused on achieving our goals, the first of which, is qualifying for EuroBasket 2025.

“I am honoured to lead this exciting group of players and staff and guarantee we will approach the task at hand with the professionalism and responsibility it demands.”
