A trio of Great Britain Under-20s have been called up to the Great Britain Senior Men’s squad, whose training camp opens this weekend.

Devon Van Oostrum, Alex Marcotullio and Ryan Richards (pictured, in order) have all got the call-up, after impressive performances at the Division B European Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

All three finished amongst the statistical leaders in a number of different categories at the Euros, which they returned from this week. San Antonio Spurs draft pick Richards was dominant, averaging 22.3 points along with 8.1 rebounds per game, point guard Devon Van Oostrum led the tournament in assists at 5 per outing, along with 13.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals, whilst Northwestern guard Marcotullio averaged 16 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

This will be Van Oostrum’s second year at the Senior camp, and he now feels better prepared having been there before. Speaking to Hoopsfix said:

“I’m excited, I know what it’s about now which will help me out. No nerves, just gonna go out there and give it my all.

“I want to make sure this is a successful summer, under-20s didn’t go as planned, but I’ve got a second chance here to redeem myself.”

Added to that, Andrew Lawrence and Devan Bailey, who have just returned from Germany where they were competing with the GB Futures squad have also received call ups, Hoopsfix has learned. It is assumed, based on performances in Germany, there may be other members of the Futures squad sitting on invites.

They will all be outside shots to make the final roster, but the invites are a testament to the hard work they have put in over their careers.

Training camp opens on Saturday in Cobham, Surrey, whilst insurance for NBA players Luol Deng and Ben Gordon is yet to be sorted out.
