Lauren Milligan will make the transition into a head coach role at Oaklands Wolves’ WBBL side, whilst continuing her playing career.
The 26-year-old heads into a fifth season with the Wolves having moved onto the sidelines in taking charge of the academy side in 2019 – recently leading the team in the WEABL Summer Showcase.
Milligan leads the franchise in rebounds (481) and assists (155) on the all-time league records and has become a key member on the court with experience and toughness.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to coach and lead the WBBL team into the new season,” said Milligan. “This opportunity allows me to continue my journey in coaching whilst still being able to play, something I’m not ready to give up just yet.
“It will be a new experience to be a player-coach, but with the support of everyone at Oaklands I’m ready for the challenge.”
Milligan will be assisted by Albert Ziwa, while long-term head coach Lee Ryan will continue a role of Head of Basketball Performance at Oaklands College.
The Wolves will continue their player announcements for the coming season this week. For all the ins and outs from around the league so far, check out our WBBL rosters tracker, HERE.
