Chloe Gaynor has been confirmed as Newcastle Eagles’ latest signing ahead of the 2021-22 WBBL season.

The former Nottingham Wildcats forward becomes the latest member of the 98/99-born club with the Eagles also bringing in Ebony Horton, Jessica Eadsforth-Yates and Anna Popovic and re-signing Abby Lowe.

Gaynor links back up with Lowe with the duo having played together at Barking Abbey – winning the inaugural WEABL Championship title in 2016 when Gaynor was Finals MVP.

“I was super impressed with the Eagles’ talent and attitude last season and I’m looking forward to linking up with Abby again,” said Gaynor, via release. “We talked a lot throughout last season and she loved the togetherness at the heart of the Newcastle team.

“It was incredible to see the Eagles go on that run all the way to the playoff final. To do that in spite of losing so many players and against the backdrop of a pandemic was remarkable.

“It’s so exciting to become a part of that group and see what I can bring to the team.”

The Eagles have also confirmed the return of American guard Maddy McVicar, whilst bringing in U19 Egyptian international Menna El Gharini.
