Basketball England CEO Huw Morgan has stepped down from his role within the National Governing Body, as first reported by MVP’s Mark Woods.
Just 18 months into the job, Morgan’s position became untenable due to his involvement with Bball UK, the private entity that is attempting to channel £36million private investment into the sport beginning with taking over the professional league’s operating license.
Morgan’s departure was imminent, having been removed from any meetings regarding the operating license and the investment since the end of last year after declaring his conflict of interest to the board.
It is believed Morgan sent out a farewell email to staff last week, as he will be reportedly replaced in the interim by Basketball England Director Mark Clark, while Morgan is expected to go and join the three former Basketball England Directors, Ameesh Manek, Andrew Ryan and Rick Boomgaardt working on Bball UK.
As a small update to BBL Insider, understand ex-GB Women’s coach and EB director Mark Clark will be put in interim charge of @bballengland
