2015 FIBA Europe Youth Tournament Draws Announced

Great Britain’s under-20 men and England’s under-16 and under-18 sides have learnt their fate ahead of next year’s European Championships as the draws were revealed this morning (Sunday).

GB u20’s finished 11th in Division A in Crete this past summer, under the guidance of Head Coach Douglas Leichner – and they will be looking to go even further next time around. They have been drawn in Group D alongside the recent champions Turkey as well as Germany, Lithuania and Slovenia.

Assistant coach James Vear tweeted:

Karl Brown’s England under-18’s suffered relegation from Divison A and they will be keen to bounce straight back. Standing in their way in Group A are Albania, Switzerland, Estonia, Bulgaria and Poland – who dropped down alongside England. Their initial training squad was announced in September.

England’s under-16’s had a summer to remember after claiming bronze in Macedonia to earn promotion to Division A. They have drawn with Germany, Russia and 2012 winners Turkey in Group A. Some familiar faces were named in the 31-man preliminary squad for the coming year.

Draw re-cap:

U20 European Championships Division A – GB, Turkey, Lithuania, Germany, Slovenia
U18 European Championships Division B – ENGLAND, Albania, Poland, Switzerland, Estonia, Bulgaria
U16 European Championships Division A – ENGLAND, Turkey, Russia, Germany
