England under-18’s were unable to avoid relegation after falling to a 73-59 defeat against Czech Republic at the European Championships on Sunday.
Karl Brown’s side pulled off their first victory at the tournament on Saturday but were unable to repeat the feat as they now drop down to Division B for 2015.
They had come close to beating the Czechs earlier in the tournament and looked set for another close battle after making a strong start to trail 22-21 at the end of the first. However, their opponents stormed clear in the second and never looked back as they secured their place in Division A.
Jules Dang Akodo continued to show why he was sorely missed in the opening games with a 19 point haul to lead his side. Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye and Josh Steel were the only other players in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.
England finish their campaign in 14th place with a 1-7 record as they go down alongside Poland and Belgium.
