Ovie Soko continues his breakout season with Duquesne, as he dropped a career-high 29 points last night, including an insane off the glass dunk, as the Dukes extended their win streak to five, with an 87-81 Atlantic 10 Conference-opening win over Fordham at Palumbo Center.
The Senior had 20 in the first half (14 in the final 9:30 of the first half), and the performance marked his fifth straight 20-plus point outing. He finished 10/15 from the field, 8/13 at the line, and added 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block in 33 minutes.
The five-game win streak has enabled the Dukes (8-5, 1-0) to match last year’s win total (8-22), and is DU’s longest since the 2010-11 team won 11 in a row.
Soko has now scored 20 or more a team-high six times this season, and is averaging 18.9 points and 8.8 rebounds on 46.5% shooting so far.
