It was an anti-climatic start to the WNBL season, after two of the three games scheduled were postponed.
Both Sevenoaks Suns against Barking Abbey, and City of Sheffield Hatters versus Loughborough Riders were postponed due to Sevenoaks and City of Sheffield struggling with player availability.
In the only fixture to take place at the weekend, Team Northumbria took down Manchester Mystics 59-46 at Sport Central, led by 19 points from Kat Hulme and 17 from Diana Voynova.
“I was really pleased with our focus to start the game,” said Team Northumbria Head Coach Josh Merrington. “We made a lot of mistakes as you would expect with any new team, but the effort was outstanding.
“We’ll break down the film and we’ll look at the things we did well and try to build on those and fix other areas. But overall, it’s a positive start.”
Manchester’s Nicolette Fong Lyew Quee finished with 13 for the visitors.
