Myles Hesson has been handed a late call-up into the Great Britain men’s squad for training camp in Houston.
The Mersey Tigers forward received a shock late summons on Saturday and is expected to report for training on Monday, four days after Chris Finch’s squad began workouts.
Birmingham-born Hesson, a former GB Under 20 international, admitted his surprise on a Twitter post.
He said: “Can’t believe it but I’m flyin out to Houston in the morning for GB Mens Training camp #honouredandblessed”
British Basketball has yet to confirm the full squad in Houston, with Ben Gordon among a handful of players named in the original party who are absent.
The Detroit Pistons guard, according to reports, has scheduled a personal appearance in the Motor City later this month, casting doubt on his participation at the Olympics. Team sources say he has yet confirm when, or if, he will arrive.
