Wade had 29 points and 11 rebounds, while Dallas power forward Dirk Nowitzki had an impressive 34 points and 11 rebounds. However the German missed a shot in the final seconds that would have taken the game to overtime.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra credited power forward Udonis Haslem’s defence on Nowitzki’s final shot: “That’s a makeable shot, but ‘UD’ did a great job of keeping his chest in front of him and forcing him into a fadeaway. Nowitzki is a tough player. That shot hung up in the air about as long as it was in between Game 2 and Game 3.â€
Dallas trailed for much of the game and Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said: “We were digging out of holes all night. … It’s very difficult playing from behind all the time.â€
The two teams meet again in Dallas on Tuesday for Game 4 of the best-of-seven series.
