GB under-20 men coach Tim Lewis was pleased with his side’s opening two games of their European Championship warm-up.
A 19-man squad played a pair of games against Scotland under-23s in Braintree, Essex, over the weekend, winning 77-50 on Saturday and 86-65 the following day as part of the combined camp with the under-20 women.
“It was good for our preparations,†Lewis told the GB website. “The first three sessions gave us the opportunity to look at players we haven’t seen before, so it was very positive all round.
“The venue is good for us, it’s a great floor and we’ve had it to ourselves. It’ll be good to come back here in July.”
They were contrasting victories, with a strong fourth period putting the Scots away on Saturday, while the following day GB poured in the first 15 points and never looked back.
Lewis’ team now return to camp, and their next pair of games come over the weekend of June 25-26 when they host the Netherlands Under-20 at Bristol. They return to Braintree in early July to face pairs of games against Denmark under-20 and Belgium under-20.
