Leicester Riders captain Lataryl Williams’ season is over after he was told to undergo surgery on his injured knee. The club has finalised a deal to bring back Frank Holmes to BBL as his replacement.
American forward Williams was carried off during Sunday’s defeat to Milton Keynes and after undergoing a MRI, doctors have declared that he will miss the remainder of the campaign.
Team-mate Tom Sherlock has already been sidelined and probably needs a hernia operation. While centre Liam Potter is also listed as day to day with a knee injury.

And Riders coach Rob Paternostro has moved swiftly s to keep his side on track for the play-offs with Holmes, who spent last season with Milton Keynes before a season-ending injury, arriving to fill the void.
"We are fortunate to get Frank in at short notice and it is a credit to the Rider's organization that we were able to move so quickly, after Lataryl William's unfortunate injury," he said.
"Frank is a high energy player, and I thought last season with the Lions he was one of the better interior players in the BBL. It is always difficult bringing in a player at this stage of the season, and integrating him in the team will take a little time. But he has flown straight in and trained with the squad so hopefully he can make a big contribution."
This season Holmes played for Inter Bratislava in the Slovakia League, averaging 13 points game at a 50% shooting percentage, and 6 rebounds a game. The regular season is over in Slovakia, so Riders can sign the player. who is now a free agent. However they will need clearance from the Slovakian League, which is expected by tomorrow.
Leicester face a double header this weekend against Essex and Cheshire with league rules allowing a post-deadline signing in the case of injury.
"The rule change was just for this sort of circumstance, so we need to get some cover,” Paternostro said.
