Former Great Britain Under-20 Will Saunders is preparing for a bigger role at JUCO Central Florida this coming season as the countdown to opening night is on.
The Patriots, who repeated as conference champions for the first time in school history last season, have been using Saunders at the two-guard in the preseason, which emphasises more ball-handling than he has been used to in the past.
“I think it’s been a good thing,” he said, talking to CFPatriots.com. “There’s a bigger role for me this year and if I do what I am supposed to do, I can get to a good (four-year) school.”
“He’s our best shooter and he also can go to the boards, so he is very difficult for our opponents to defend,” Central Florida coach Tim Ryan said. “He’s athletic and he can run the floor. It makes it difficult for guys to guard us.”
The article goes on to state that Saunders has already visited Troy, and been receiving interest from Jacksonville and Charleston Southern, where his former teammate and fellow Brit Allie Fullah now attends.
