Kingsley Okoroh To Head to Findlay Prep
England Under-16 star Kingsley Okoroh (1995 born) will be attending prestigious Findlay Prep, Nevada, USA, next year.
The 7’0″ big man, who played with the Derby Trailblazers last season, was named to the Division B European Championships all-tournament team this summer, after leading the tournament in rebounds (11.4) and blocked shots (4.3). Long been considered one of the next great talents to come out of the UK, heading to one of the best high school programmes in the states seems like a natural progression for Okoroh, who is just as talented in the classroom as he is on the basketball court.
Talking to Hoopsfix, he said:
“I hope it will be an awesome experience for me, and help with taking basketball forward as a profession.”
Kingsley explained he is nervous but extremely excited about going up against some of the best players in America.
He has a three year full scholarship to the prestigious school which is sponsored by Nike, putting him in the class of 2014. Since its birth in 2006, Findlay Prep has compiled an impressive win-loss record and quickly become recognised as one of the best programmes in America. Findlay Prep is independent of the Nevada athletic association, playing a national schedule that requires about 30,000 miles of travel each season.
Okoroh will leave the UK to begin the next step in his basketball journey on August 21st. Hoopsfix wants to wish him the best of luck, we will be following!
