Simply British Ballers (SBB) will be Great Britain’s representatives in the new Euroleague Hoop District 3×3 creator tournament, competing for a €10,000 prize with another €5k up for grabs for the team that drives the most impact on social.
Denzel Kazembe and Behrad Bakhtiari are the duo that is SBB and they will compete against teams of content creators from Athens, Barcelona, Bologna, Paris and Milan on March 30 at the brand-new Adidas Arena, Paris.
The best two teams from the Paris Hoop District qualifying tournament will then move onto the Berlin edition May 23, this will be the Final Four where the money is on the line.
On Instagram SBB said: “I’m hearing we’ve got Paris in the first round but we ain’t hooped in a minute. It’s not looking good but there’s only one answer to that: we need to get in the gym.”
Should SBB make it, waiting in the Final Four will be a local Berlin team and an all-star team.
The content creators will be the captains of their 3-a-side squad and will hand-pick the most promising male and female players to join them.
After starting out in Canterbury during the pandemic, SBB have gone on to build a strong digital community for British basketball league fans including working with the NBA, Nike, the Basketball Champions League and appearing on the Gadget Show. Their goal is to visit every basketball court in the world, with reviews of these courts a cornerstone of their content.
Describing the tournament, Euroleague said: “Hoop District is not your average basketball tournament; it’s a disruptive celebration of talent, culture, and the dynamic intersection of sports and social media.
“Embracing the spirit of the modern era, Hoop District is poised to captivate a young and diverse audience, bringing together basketball enthusiasts and social media followers for an unforgettable experience.”
