Caledonia Gladiators become the second women’s team to enter Europe in recent years as they make their debut in EuroCup Women.

The ambitious side were accepted directly into the regular season and face some challenging opposition as they aim to make history of their own.

Laken James is back alongside incoming duo Kirsty Brown and Hannah Robb from Leicester Riders, while former GB center Sammy Roscoe is another of the new additions.

It was a dream European debut for the Gladiators as they turned on the heat in the second half to record a convincing win at home to Portuguese side Benfica. The Scottish side compiled a 17-7 third period to take control before backing it up with a 23-12 fourth quarter effort.

Caledonia had nine different scorers, led by Djeneba N’Diaye’s 19 points, while GB duo Sammy Roscoe and Kirsty Brown were also in double figures with 10 points each.
