Ball or Nothing, a new documentary following the Caledonia Gladiators’ 2022/23 British Basketball Championship season is set to premiere on the BBC this Monday, September 18 2023.

The eight part-series, each 30-minutes long, will debut on BBC Scotland at 10pm on Monday night (Episode 1), and Tuesday 19th on BBC Three at 9pm (Episode 1).

Made by Renowned Films, Ballers: Ball or Nothing follows the story of Scotland’s only professional basketball team through their BBL Trophy winning 2022-23 season, as they ended a 20-year drought of winning any silverware.

“The documentary is a fantastic showpiece for the club over an amazing 12 months,” Sean Skelly, Caledonia Gladiators’ Head of Men’s Basketball said.

“I think it’s fantastic for the fans to get a glimpse at the behind-the-scenes workings. I hope this gets us out to a new audience at an exciting time for us!”

Cameras followed a dedicated group of players, staff and fans, providing an insight into the running of the club both on and off-court, starting during the summer of 2022 when the club was named the Glasgow Rocks.

The story builds around the introduction of new owners, Steve and Alison Timoney, as the franchise rebranded to the Caledonia Gladiators.

Then, a season full of up-and-downs followed, ending with the extreme high of winning the British Basketball League Trophy Final thanks to a talented group of import signings from across the globe, and homegrown British talent.

Ballers: Ball or Nothing (8 x 30’) is a Renowned Films production for BBC Three and BBC Scotland and was commissioned by Nasfim Haque, Head of Content for BBC Three and Louise Thornton, Senior Head of Multi-Platform Commissioning, BBC Scotland. The Executive Producers for Renowned Films are Kate Maddigan, Duane Jones, Max Welch and Tim Withers. The Commissioning Editors for the BBC are Neil McCallum and Steve Allen.
