LEONARD: LONDON LIONS OUT FOR SWEEP

Kennedy Leonard claims London Lions are intent on a sweep with the WBBL Playoff title.

The quadruple-chasing side have the chance to make history on Sunday by going the entire domestic campaign without a single loss when they face Sevenoaks Suns at The 02 Arena.

And Leonard, who steered Scotland to qualification for the Commonwealth Games last month, has vowed there will be no slipping at the last fence.

The 25-year-old said: “It’s exactly what we wanted to do this season.

“Obviously, we have the roster and the talent to do it. So just to be able to kind of finish it off with the cherry on top and get the finals win would be something that we’ve really all talked about since the ball tipped off last September.

“So this is the last one for us. And we’ve all been talking about it and wanting to get here. And now that we’re here, we just have to finish the job.”

Lions men will bid to banish a campaign of under-achievement and deny Leicester Riders’ pursuit of a treble in the BBL Playoff final.

But their female counterparts, who also reached the second phase of the EuroCup, have lived up to their hype with Leonard instrumental as their point guard.

She said: “We all do things together collectively that that help us to be the team that we are. It starts with us. We’d have to set that level. Everybody brings in something different. Everybody has to take a little bit and then give twice that back.

“So I think for a lot of people it might look like all glitz and glamour from the outside but it has been hard work. It wasn’t like you just walk in and it just works.

“If you compare us now to the team even when we were in EuroCup, if we could go back into Europe again, we would do a lot better. So it’s just learning things and learning players and learning people and getting to know each other outside of basketball. That helps a tonne.”
