Bristol Flyers sign GB guard Teddy Okereafor on short-term deal

Teddy Okereafor has signed with Bristol Flyers on a short-term deal to play in the BBL for the first time.

The GB Senior guard had been without a club for the start of the 2020-21 campaign having previously played in Greece.

Okereafor gives the Flyers a welcome boost after the club announced that Josh Wilcher would be out for 4-6 weeks with an ankle injury.

“It feels really good to be on the team,” said Okereafor. “It’s wild times right now, but to get back playing is exciting.

“I think the club is developing, it’s a great setup and it’s got a good long term plan.

“Coach (Andreas) Kapoulas is obviously the GB assistant coach, so we already have a connection there. He called and asked me to help the team the best I can to win some games.

“That’s all the focus is. Anything I can do to help my teammates get better and win games is ultimately the goal for the team.”

Okereafor is part of the initial 24-man GB squad ahead of the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers and previously hinted at signing in the BBL, on the Hoopsfix Podcast.

The Flyers currently have an 0-3 record in the Cup, with their first two games forfeited due to COVID-19, and they face Plymouth Raiders on Wednesday.
