Robyn Lewis amongst returnees as Cardiff Met Archers retain core

Robyn Lewis has re-signed for another season with Cardiff Met Archers as the Welsh club retain their core group under player-coach Stef Collins.

The Scottish guard holds the all-time record for most league games played in the WBBL with 108 and is set to add to her tally during the 2020-21 campaign.

“It’s been a difficult year for everyone, but basketball always helps provide a bit of focus and normality,” said Lewis.

“I’m extremely grateful that so much work has gone into ensuring the season can go ahead and can’t wait to be back on the court with my teammates.”

Coach Collins added: “Robyn is a natural leader who plays with great pace and tenacity, she will provide such a big spark for us at both ends of the floor.”

The Archers have plenty of experience on their roster with the continued stays of Sarah Wagstaff – for her 17th season at the club – and Laura Shanahan with the duo first to be announced.

Cristina Bigica led the Archers in scoring with 15.6 points per game last season, and returns alongside Argentina’s junior international Mara Marchizotti.

Cardiff have also retained Levi Warren, Sara Jorgensen, Kim Khein and Marie Le Picault, while Azeb Smalley is back for her 12th year at the club.
