WASHINGTON A RIDER AGAIN

Conner Washington has agreed a two-year deal to return to Leicester Riders.

The Great Britain guard is set for his third spell in the East Midlands where has picked up ten trophies over seven seasons.

He spent last season with German team VfL Bochum, averaging 18.3 points and 5.1 assists per game.

“He plays with passion, intensity and a style that Riders fans have enjoyed throughout the years,” said Riders head coach Rob Paternostro.

“He first came to us many years ago and we have enjoyed watching him grow and have watched him win many trophies with many different teams here.”

“His defence can be a game changer, his athletic ability, intelligence and intensity on that end of the floor is valuable for any team to have and we look forward to that again this season.”

With Josh Ward-Hibbert opting out of the second year of his contract to depart the club, Washington is the first Rider to have signed for the 2020-21 campaign which might yet be delayed until next January while audience restrictions are in place on indoor sports due to coronavirus.

“It feels great to be back. I love the organisation and love the city,” said Washington. “My family are here and I’m closer to my hometown Bedford so anytime I can play here is a true blessing.”

“I’m confident there’s a lot of success to come.”

Earlier this week, Plymouth Raiders announce they have agreed to a request from Australian guard Josh Wilcher that he be released from the remaining year of his contract, due to family reasons.

While Glasgow Rocks are losing Greg Pryor and Maxime D’jo Ebala to French NM1 outfit Avignon on one-year deals.
