Nate Reinking has named his first Great Britain squad for the EuroBasket pre-qualifiers against Kosovo and Luxembourg.
Ovie Soko, presently featuring in ITV2 hit Love Island, is included while captain Dan Clark, Kyle Johnson and the returning Eric Boating all played alongside Reinking at the London 2012 Olympics.
Gabe Olaseni, GB’s top performer at EuroBasket 2017, Robert Gilchrist, and 2019 BBL Trophy MVP Ashley Hamilton complete GB’s returning frontcourt from the last round.
Conner Washington, newly signed for Hungarian side Oroszlany, and Josh Steel who was a regular member of Alberto Lorenzo’s squads complete the list of returners. Mo Soluade and Luke Nelson, who both last played for GB in their unsuccessful World Cup qualifying campaign, return as does Gareth Murray who missed the last two games through injury.
Andrew Lawrence and Carl Wheatle are absentees from GB’s last outing against Austria in February.
Training camp is set to begin on August 1 after which Reinking will select a final 12-man squad with GB playing in Kosovo on August 7 before returning to Manchester for a couple of home games against Luxembourg on August 10 and Kosovo on August 17. The campaign concludes on the road at Luxembourg on August 21.

We have a tiny favour to ask. In 2018 we set out to make Hoopsfix sustainable by building our relationship directly with our readers. Up until now, Hoopsfix has been creating editorials, videos and podcasts to provide sorely missing coverage of the British game and its distinct culture and community.
We have funded Hoopsfix with our freelance work creating basketball media, but sadly that means not only does it fall behind our client’s priorities, but some of those clients are the same organisations we need to report objectively on putting us in a conflicted position.
We want to devote more time to our mission of helping British basketball reach its potential, and produce even more content for the basketball community by making Hoopsfix a sustainable 100% independent business funded directly by our readers through Patreon.
If everyone who enjoys our content chose to support us, our future would be much more secure. For as little as $3 per month, you can support Hoopsfix – and it only takes a minute.
We are tremendously honoured and humbled to have a community of people who value what we do, and we look forward to being at the forefront of the British game as it continues to evolve.
