WORCESTER BACK ON COACH HUNT
Worcester Wolves will seek a new head coach for next season.
It has been confirmed that Tony Garbelotto, placed in interim charge following the departure of Ty Shaw, will not remain at the helm.
The ex-Great Britain coach, who is thought to have secured a job overseas, oversaw Worcester’s 74-72 home victory over fifth placed Glasgow Rocks at the University of Worcester Arena on Friday to ensure that his side avoided finishing bottom.
Managing Director, Mick Donovan, said: “Tony joined the Wolves during a really difficult period for the club. He has a huge amount of experience and knowledge and together with his focussed and professional approach, he really made a positive impact during the short time he was with us. We really enjoyed working with him and sincerely thank him for his meaningful contribution. Of course, we wish him well with whatever coaching path he takes in the future and I am sure he will continue to make a great contribution to the game.
“Now we are looking to appoint a new coach to take the team forward and will update fans when we have more news.
Garbelotto, who had called for a change in the Wolves’ recruitment policy which is conducted by management rather than coaches, said: “I want to personally thank Mick and all of the directors, along with all of the staff at the Wolves. From my first day, everyone has worked tirelessly to achieve positive results both on and off court.
“This is a big club with one of the best fan bases in the league and I thank all the fans for their support. I have no doubt that the club will go on to further successes in the future.â€
