Andreas Kapoulas Stays as U20 Head Coach – GB Coaching Staff Announced

Andreas Kapoulas has been retained as Great Britain Under-20’s Head Coach as British Basketball announced their full coaching staff lineups for the summer.

The Bristol Flyers play-caller took over the reigns from Douglas Leichner in 2016 and will have Lloyd Gardner and Josh Merrington as his assistants.

GB U20s head out to Oradea, Romania for the European Championships with their Division B campaign starting on 14 July.

Barking Abbey’s James Vear had been U20 assistant for the past four years, but he has taken charge of the GB Under-16 side with former England Under-16 Head Coach Alan Keane now leading the GB Under-18’s, as confirmed in January.

“We are delighted to name such strong coaching and management teams to all of the GB National Youth Squads,” said British Basketball Chief Executive, Lisa Wainwright.

“Using the experience and talent within the Home Countries, we’ve been able to appoint high quality coaches and excellent team support personnel to all squads.

“Flying the flag for GB for the first time for the younger age groups adds a new dimension for the coaches, management and players.”
