GB Senior Women Name Initial Squad for Upcoming Qualifiers

Great Britain have named 23 players to the Senior Women’s squad for the upcoming EuroBasket 2017 qualifiers.

Chema Buceta’s side go up against Italy and Albania in their final qualifying games looking to boost their hopes of reaching next year’s major tournament.

GB are 2-2 in Group C and finish with road games against Italy on 19 November and Albania on 23 November.

16 of the 23 players selected currently ply their trade in the WBBL with four players from Leicester Riders and three each from Barking Abbey Crusaders and Manchester Mystics.

And of those 16, five represented GB Under-20’s at the European Championships this summer with Abigail Johnson, Kyla Nelson, Georgia Gayle, Gabriel Nikitinaite and Savannah Wilkinson all stepping up.
