Jordan Spencer held his nerve at the line to sink a pair of free throws with 4.6 seconds left to earn Augustana an 80-78 victory in the NCAA DII Championship Tournament.
The sophomore guard netted 17 points and dished out eight assists as the Vikings secured their first-ever Region Championship to advance to the Elite Eight stage for the first time.
Spencer had a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists in Augustana’s opening 100-85 victory, before recording another 10 points along with eight assists in a following 77-67 success.
The Vikings have improved to 31-2 on the season after their 80-78 triumph over Northwest Missouri State, and next face Tarleton State next Wednesday.
