Surrey Scorchers have moved to strengthen their roster with the addition of rookie Christian Behrens.
The 22-year-old was a newcomer to the GB Senior Men’s squad this summer, but did not make his international debut.
Behrens cut short his time at Cal Bears Univeristy in order to pursue a professional career. The forward was signed by top-flight Austrian side Wels, but was released a few weeks into the season.
The opportunity has arose for Behrens to come to the UK and join Surrey, who also expect to announce the signing of a point guard in due course.
“I am delighted to welcome Christian to the team,” said Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos. “He is a great talent with a positive attitude to the game and will be a welcome addition to our roster.”
Behrens goes straight into the Scorchers roster, available to make his debut in this weekend’s BBL clash with London Lions.
