Great Britain senior women will take to the floor in Manchester for their first home match-up of their EuroBasket Women 2017 qualification games.
They will face Italy at the Amaechi Basketball Centre in the city on Wednesday 25 November 2015 in a 7pm tip-off.
It will be the first of three consecutive home fixtures and with the support of GB fans, this could go a long way to cementing what would be a sensational fourth straight appearance at EuroBasket Women Final Round.
The players will also get to compete at the home venue of a WBBL (Women’s British Basketball League) club as they step out for the first time on home soil this calendar year, in what promises to be an exciting clash against the Italians.
GB will tip-off their qualification campaign for EuroBasket Women 2017 four days earlier on the road against Group C favourites Montenegro in Podgorica.
The change to the women’s basketball calendar now sees qualification games for EuroBasket Women taking place during short windows across the 2015-16 and 2016-17 club/college seasons – rather than during summer months as was previously the case.
Great Britain’s qualification games are as follows:
Montenegro v Great Britain – Saturday 21/11/15 (Moraca Sports Centre, Podgorica)
Great Britain v Italy – Wednesday 25/11/15 (Amaechi Centre, Manchester)
Great Britain v Albania – Saturday 20/02/16
Great Britain v Montenegro – Wednesday 24/02/16
Italy v Great Britain – Saturday 19/11/2016
Albania v Great Britain – Wednesday 23/11/2016
EuroBasket Women 2017 will be hosted by Czech Republic and will take place in Hradec Kralove and Prague. The nine winners of each qualification group will all receive an automatic spot and will be joined by the six best runners-up, with the host nation taking the other berth.
