Luol Deng Makes Miami Heat Debut with Win Over Washington

Great Britain’s Luol Deng made his Miami Heat debut last night as they defeated the Washington Wizards 107-95.

The two-time NBA All-Star scored 12 points, adding 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block on 4/8 shooting as Miami Heat began life without four-time MVP LeBron James.

Deng played a little over 30 minutes, and went 0-2 from beyond the arc, having said he wants to improve his three point shooting this season.

Chris Bosh led the scoring with 26 points and 15 rebounds and speaking after the game said: “I’m just happy to be playing basketball again in front of this great crowd and this great city. We have so much going for ourselves right now. I like to win. It doesn’t matter how we do it. We can get better.”

Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra said:

“Heat Nation was waiting for this game. We were waiting for this game.”

The Miami Heat’s next game sees them travel to Pennsylvania to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday (Nov. 01).
