Pops Mensah-Bonsu Signs 2 Year Deal with Olympiacos

Great Britain star forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu has signed a two year deal with Greek side Olympiacos, the club has announced.

The two year agreement will provide welcome stability to the 29 year old, who’s last two year deal, with Maccabi in 2012, was nixed before he even got a chance to suit up.

The 6’9″ Londoner has just completed his season in Turkey with Galatasaray, where his side forfeited the TBL finals to Fenerbahce after not showing up for Game 7 in protest after fan trouble and security issues.

Pops averaged 10.6 points, and 6.8 rebounds on 61.6% shooting this season in the TBL.

Former teammate Carlos Arroyo took to Instagram to pay tribute to Pops, also letting him know that Olympiacos point guard Vassilis Spanoulis will not be as good at throwing lobs for him!

“They say that there’s a difference between interest and commitment,” Arroyo captioned the below picture. “When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results!

“This guy is truly an example of that. As unfair as this game has been with him at times, he has always been committed to giving 200% for his teammates and to wining every time he stepped on the floor! It was an honor playing with you my Pops! I will miss you tremendously @popsmbonsu Love you my brother! -By the way (Spanoulis will never throw you alley-oops like me)”
