MIKE TUCKS IN AT SHEFFIELD
Sheffield Sharks have agreed a new two-year deal with club captain Mike Tuck.
The Canadian-born forward, has spent the past four seasons with the Yorkshire side, picking up a Cup and Trophy medals.
Page turner for Giants
Keith Page has agreed to join Manchester Giants from Durham Wildcats.
The guard, who spent one season on Teesside, will fill the void left by former GB international Devan Bailey, who has not been offered a new deal.
It reunites Page with coach Jeff Jones after the pair’s previous stint with Manchester Magic.
“Jeff is one of the best coaches I have had,” Page told the MEN. “He understands players and whenever I have played for him in the past he has got the best out of me.
Brown back for Lions
London Lions have re-signed American point guard Rod Brown on a one-year deal.
The veteran marks the first signing for the capital side ahead of their move to the Copper Box Arena for the forthcoming season.
“We have a great opportunity at the Queen Elizabeth Park and with these great challenges we need capable men,†said Lions’ Head Coach Vince Macaulay.
“Rod was a great addition to us last season and he’s just as excited as I am about the move, his veteran leadership was key and will be required this season as we try to compete at the top of the League table, we had a job on our hands to retain his services as he was in great demand hear and overseas but the potential here is the best in British basketball and I think Rod saw that.â€
Owumi back in Worcester
Alex Owumi will be back for a second season at Worcester Wolves after agreeing a new one-year deal.
The 28-year-old American averaging 19 points in 35 minutes per game last term, as well as leading the side in assists.
“I’ve really enjoyed being at Worcester and have been pleased with my performances,” he said.
“Having said that, I was disappointed that we didn’t deliver any trophies.
“I know that we can do better. The Wolves organisation are putting their trust in me and I intend to repay everyone for that faith.â€
Worcester are also set to offer a new deal to guard Sharrard Prezzie-Blue but are waiting to hear whether forward Stan Ocitti will play next season or take a hiatus from the sport.
Plymouth set for clearout
Plymouth Raiders coach Gavin Love will offer new deals to Jamal Williams and centre Andreas Schreiber – but looks set to overhaul his roster.
The duo, who arrived mid-season in 2012-13, will likely be surrounded by new faces with Mike Ojo set to pursue a move into mainland Europe.
“Myself and Jamal have spoken, and he’s very high up my list,” Love told The Plymouth Herald.
“I think he and Andreas got on well as well. It would be great to have that continuity this summer. I think Jamal will be back in the BBL next season – hopefully with us.”
