GB Women’s Squad Cut to 16

Head coach Tom Maher has made his first cuts from the Great Britain Senior Women’s squad at training camp, with Sarah McKay and Kristina Collins being released.

Four players have now been released since the initial squad was announced, with Stanford University’s Bonnie Samuelson and Sarah Naylor of the Sheffield Hatters being cut before training camp opened.

The women’s camp opened at the beginning of May as each member of the squad battles for a place on the final 12 player roster that will compete at the London 2012 Olympics.

The 16 players who continue at training camp now look towards their first test games in Croatia on the 28 and 29 May before heading to Belgium to play in a four-team tournament from 1-3 June with Germany, Ukraine and Belgium.

The squad will then return to the UK to play their first domestic game on 9 and 10 June in Edinburgh against Canada.
