The Great Britain Futures team could not use the momentum from their friendly victory as they lost to Germany Under-23s, 69-55, on Saturday evening in the first official test game.
A 14-0 run from Germany in the fourth quarter proved too much for GB as they went down 0-1 in the two game series.
Kyle Johnson led GB with 16 points, while Andrew Lawrence added 12 and 4 rebounds, with Lester Prosper also contributing 11 points and 4 rebounds.
GB struggled from the floor, shooting just 31% whilst were dominated on the boards.
Head of Performance for British Basketball, Warwick Cann commented:
“It was a tough physical contest that favoured the home team tonight. But, it was also a good learning experience about European basketball for how we need to play every game.”
Head coach Nick Nurse added:
“The Germans responded from yesterday very strongly especially with rebounding and physical defence. Tonight was a good game for our growth and we’ll see how we respond in game three.”
