Young Prospects Shine, BBL Mini Recap 19/09/10

A very brief recap of all BBL Trophy action last night, with leading scorers and links to box scores.

Leicester Riders 80 Essex Pirates 70

Despite going down by as much as 15 early on, the Leicester Riders fought back to secure a 10 point victory, 80-70 over the Essex Pirates last night who only had 9 players suiting up for the group stage BBL Trophy game.

Ryan Zamroz had 17 points to lead Leicester, with J. R. Blount having 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Lataryl Williams dropping a 13 point, 12 rebound double double.

Brits Myles Hesson and Samuel Toluwase led the Pirates with 17 points and 9 rebounds each whilst Andre Ellis added 15. Fellow young British prospect Jamell Anderson played all 40 minutes finishing with 11 points. Full box score available here.

Worcester Wolves 70 Cheshire Jets 68

The Worcester Wolves were given a scare last night after the Cheshire Jets managed to hold them to no field goals over the last 6 minutes of the game, going on a 21-5 run to pull within two, but ultimately came up short allowing the Wolves to hold on for a 70-68 victory.

Danny Gilbert led Worcester with 17 points, whilst Rod Middleton and David Watts had 16 a-peice. Jeremy Bell led Cheshire with 23. Full box score available here.
