The GB Women’s team bounced back to beat Germany 72-63, in the second game of the Eurobasket qualifying campaign.

Great Britain came out with a point to prove early in the game, opening with a 13-4 run, a lead which they maintained through to the second quarter. A 10-1 run from the German team cut the lead down to four, in the second quarter. Four points was as close as Germany would get to Great Britain. GB maintained the lead at around 10 points for the remainder of the game.

Julie Page led GB once again, this time with 20 points and five rebounds. Jo Leedham added 13 points to her six steals and five rebounds whilst Natalie Stafford scored 16. Germany was led by Linda Fröhlich, who poured in, a game-high, 25 points. Full stats from the game are available here.

Tom Maher was happy with a more team oriented performance and bouncing back to win in Germany,

“Today, we played more like a team and were patient enough. It was important to stay mentally focused after the first game. It is always tough to start with a loss at home and then travel. We are very happy that we won the game against a very competitive German team.”

Great Britain will now return home to host the Ukraine, who are yet to win a game, this Friday at the University of Surrey.
