England U18 Women Suffer First Loss

Michael Ball’s England U18 Women side suffered their first loss of the European Championships yesterday as they fell short against the Netherlands, 62-74.

Despite a good start and a strong performance by Temitope Fagbenle, (totaling 21 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks and two steals) England could not stick with the Netherlands in the second period. After being outscored 24-4, England could not stop the scoring of Zara Butter (finishing with 25 to go along with seven boards) and thus not recoup the deficit enough to get back in the game, allowing the Netherlands to gain an important victory.

As well as Fagbenle, England received good performances from Renee Busch, with 16 points, six assist and 5 rebounds, and Jessica Hurd with 6 boards and seven points.
