GB U20 Women Promoted To Division A After Victory Over Portugal

GB U20 Women secured their place in the Division B European Championship final yesterday, with a 59-40 victory over Portugal. This win guarantees the side promotion into Division A for next year, being the first British age group team to do so since the two division system was created 6 years ago.
Great Britain opened the game with a superior first quarter, going up 17-4 at the first break. The players kept their heads through out the next two quarters to ensure that they countered each time Portugal pushed, maintaining their lead.
GB entered the fourth quarter up 12, but did not slow down, continuing to extend their lead till the end of the game winning by 19 over the Portuguese side. Jennings’ team were led again by Mairi Buchan (10 points and eight rebounds) with good contributions from Durojaye (nine points, nine boards) and Chiemeka (nine points, eight rebounds, three steals and a couple of assists).
