There were a number of strong games last night with 6 of the 13 players in double digits. None shone more though than Eric Boateng and Matthew Bryan-Amaning who both had big double doubles…

College of Charleston secured a 96-69 victory over Chattanooga in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament on Saturday night. Andrew Lawrence had 8 points (3/6 field goals, 2/4 from three), 2 rebounds, 1 assists and 2 steals in 23 minutes of action.

College of Charleston moved into a semifinal game against Appalachian State on Sunday and are 21-10 (14-4 Southern).

Ashley Hamilton (6′7, 210lbs, F, Freshman, London) Loyola Marymount Lions
Fifth-seeded Loyola Marymount rode to an 84-76 win over No. 4 San Francisco in the second round of the West Coast Conference tournament on Saturday night. Ashley Hamilton had another nice game for the Lions, going 6/7 from the floor and 2/3 at the line to finish with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block in 32 minutes.

The Lions (who are now 18-14, 7-7 WCC) will play top-seeded and No. 18 Gonzaga in the semifinal round Sunday night. It will be the Lions’ third game in three days after defeating Pepperdine 87-84 in the first round Friday night in Las Vegas.

South Dakota got an 97-84 victory over Houston Baptist Saturday night. Ben Daniels registered a DNP.

The Huskies are 10-20 (9-3 Indep.).


Ben EavesBen Eaves (6′7, 225lbs, F, Senior, Lancashire) Rhode Island Rams

Massachusetts hit a layup with 3.5 seconds remaining giving them a 69-67 victory over Rhode Island on Saturday that clinched an Atlantic 10 Conference tournament berth for the Minutemen. Ben Eaves went 4/5 from the floor (2/3 threes) for 10 points, whilst adding 4 rebounds in just 13 minutes in the loss.

The Rams are 21-8 (9-7 A-10).

Ben MockfordBen Mockford (6′2, 170lbs, G, Freshman, Shoreham-by-Sea) Iona Gaels
Sixth-seeded Niagara knocked off third-seeded Iona 68-64 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals on Saturday night. Ben Mockford got 1 minute off the bench and finished with an empty statline.

Iona finished the season 21-10 (12-6 MAAC).

Danny Carter StonybrookDanny Carter (6′9, 210lbs, C, Sophomore, Windsor) Stony Brook Seawolves
Stony Brook beat Albany (N.Y.) 68-59 on Saturday in the first round of the America East Conference tournament. Danny Carter got 7 minutes and finished with 1 rebound.

The top-seeded Seawolves (22-8, 13-3 Am. East) advance to the semifinals against winner of Saturday’s second game between No. 4 Boston University-No. 5 Hartford. A Stony Brook win next round would have the Seawolves, the regular season champions, hosting the league championship game next Saturday.

Eric BoatengEric Boateng (6′10, 245lbs, C, Senior, London) Arizona State Sun Devils
A career night from Eric Boateng, breathed a little more life into Arizona State’s NCAA tournament hopes with a wire-to-wire 56-46 victory over UCLA on Saturday. Boateng went 7/12 on the floor and 2/6 at the line to finish with 16 points, completing a big double double with a career high 14 rebounds, whilst adding 3 assists and a career high 4 blocks, in 34 minutes.

The Sun Devils already had wrapped up the No. 2 seed in next week’s Pac-10 tournament. Their shot at a Pac-10 co-championship ended when California beat Stanford on Saturday. They are 22-9 (12-6 Pac-10)

Justin Robinson Rider BroncsJustin Robinson (6′2, 190lbs, G, Junior, London) Rider Broncs
Rider Broncs advanced to the MAAC semi finals after securing a 69-57 victory over St. Peters. Justin Robinson had 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals, shooting 4/10 from the floor (1/4 threes) and 6/7 at the line whilst almost playing the whole game (38 minutes).

The Broncs are 17-15 (9-9 MAAC).

Matthew Bryan-AmaningMatthew Bryan-Amaning (6′9, 240lbs, F, Junior, London) Washington Huskies
Washington beat Oregon State 82-70 Saturday night, spoiling Senior Day for the Beavers and setting up a rematch between the two schools in the first round of the Pac-10 Conference tournament on Thursday. Bryan-Amaning had 20 points (9/15 shooting, 2/3 at the line), 11 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 assists and 2 blocks in 30 minutes of action.

The Huskies, who will carry the No. 3 seed in the postseason conference tournament are 21-9 (11-7 pac-10).

Myles LuttmanMyles Luttman (6′11, 230lbs, C, Junior, Birmingham) Southern Methodist Mustangs.
Marshall had a 73-57 win against SMU on Saturday. Luttman had 3 minutes, going 1/1 from the field for 2 points.

SMU (14-16, 7-9 C-USA), earned the No. 8 seed in the tournament and will play ninth-seeded UCF on Wednesday.

Ogo AdegboyeOgo Adegboye (6′0, 185lbs, G, Junior, London) St. Bonaventure Bonnies
The 25th-ranked Musketeers won a share of their fourth straight Atlantic 10 regular-season title on Saturday, securing a 93-72 victory over St. Bonaventure to break the Bonnies’ four game winning streak.Ogo Adegboye, had 28 minutes, going 3/7 from the floor (3/5 threes) and 1/2 at the line for 10 points, adding 3 rebounds and 1 assist.

The Bonnies are 14-15 (7-9 A-10).

Ovie SokoOvie Soko (6′8, 225lbs, F, Freshman, London) UAB Blazers
Derrick Caracter scored the final six points for UTEP, including a winning dunk with 1 second left that gave the Miners (No. 21 ESPN/USA Today, No. 24 AP) a 52-50 victory over UAB on Saturday night to win the Conference USA regular-season championship. Ovie Soko played 12 minutes in the loss going 1/1 from the floor for 2 points, adding 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

The Blazers are 23-7 (11-5 C-USA).

Paul GuedePaul Guede (6′5, 205lbs, G/F, Junior, London) Portland State Vikings
Paul Guede’s teammate Melvin Jones sank his fifth 3-pointer of the game with three seconds left to lift Portland State to a 68-65 win over Montana State in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Conference tournament Saturday night. Guede had 7 points (2/7 from the field, 1/2 threes and 2/2 at the line), 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals in 26 minutes.

The Vikings, which entered the tournament in the No. 6 seed, advance to the semifinals Tuesday in Ogden, Utah, where they will play top-seeded Weber State. They are now 13-18 (7-9 Big Sky).
