Krumesh Patel has been confirmed as permanent head coach of the Great Britain senior women’s team ahead of the next phase of FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2027 qualifying.
Basketball England announced Patel will continue in the role after initially stepping in on an interim basis earlier this year, with former Great Britain international Dominique Allen also confirmed to continue as general manager.
The pair led the programme through a positive first international window together in March, as GB progressed to the next stage of qualification.
Great Britain have been drawn alongside France, Ukraine and Luxembourg in the next qualifying phase, with the next window scheduled for November.
“I’m excited to continue as head coach of the senior women’s team as we head into a crucial period of Women’s EuroBasket 2027 qualifying,” Patel said via Basketball England.
“Our first window together in March was very positive, and we’ve already laid some strong foundations for the direction we want to take this programme.
“This group has the potential to compete with the best teams in Europe, and the next phase of qualification against France, Ukraine and Luxembourg gives us a great opportunity to show that.”
Patel added that the summer would be important for staying connected with players, monitoring progress, and building alignment before the November window.
Allen, who moved into an operational role with the programme earlier this year, said there was “a real sense of momentum” around the group.
“We know the challenge ahead will be significant but we are all in this together,” Allen said. “We believe we have a group capable of competing with the best teams in Europe.”
Further details on Great Britain’s EuroBasket 2027 qualification fixtures are expected to be confirmed in due course.
