Quinn Ellis has started his Olimpia Milano career in style, earning Super Cup MVP honours as Milano defended their title with a 90-76 victory over Brescia.
The 22-year-old British guard was instrumental across the weekend at the Unipol Forum, delivering a clutch three-pointer with two seconds left to force overtime in the semifinal against Virtus Bologna, which Milano won 93-86.
Ellis followed up with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting plus 4 rebounds in Sunday’s final, showcasing the efficiency and poise that caught Ettore Messina’s attention this summer.
“I’m very happy,” he commented.
“We played a great game, especially in the second half, when we managed to raise the defense and break the game. We now need to focus on the Euroleague.”
Despite another award for the rising star, he remain humble on acceptance.
“It’s always nice to win it,” he said. “But I haven’t thought about the award. I just want to contribute to the team and put in some energy. I’m very happy, but let’s focus on the Euroleague .”
This marks Ellis’s second MVP award in 2025. The Sheffield native previously earned Italian Cup MVP honours with Trento in February, where he impressed throughout the Final Eight with performances including a 12-point, 14-assist double-double in the quarterfinals.
He was also named the Italian league’s best Under-22 player for the 2024/25 season after averaging 10.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists for Trento.
Now with one of Europe’s elite clubs, Ellis faces a new challenge in the EuroLeague, which has just tipped off.
“I already know the level is very high and very different from the league,” he admitted.
“I have to get used to playing this way, with more physicality. Maybe I’ll struggle at first, but I want to make my mark there too.”
