GB youth team coaches named, plus new Programme Manager

The British Basketball Federation (BBF) has named the coaching staff for the U20, U18 and U16 age group teams this summer, while appointing a new Youth Teams Programme Manager.

The Under-20 Men will now be led by Lance Randall, current head coach of NCAA DII Saint Leo University, who also coached the Birmingham Bullets from 2000-2002.

Chantelle Handy will remain as the Under-20 Women’s Head Coach.

Krumesh Patel – last year’s Under-20 Men’s coach – will move back to the women, taking the helm of the Under-18s, while the Under-16 women’s role is continuing to be recruited for after Lee Davie has stepped down.

Alan Keane will continue with the Under-18 Men, with Dan Petts taking the Under-16 Men.

Paul Fournel has been unveiled as the new GB Youth Teams Programme Manager, coming into the role after ten years as Team Manager for Limoges CSP Basketball Club.

“Following a very competitive recruitment process, we are really excited to announce the performance staff that will lead the Great Britain teams for the 2024 FIBA European Youth Championships,” Fiona Pimblett, Consultant Performance Lead for the British Basketball Federation (BBF), said.

“The recent Combine reinforced what we already knew – we have some very talented players that are part of the GB Basketball pathway and it’s important that we surround these players with excellent staff who can support and guide them. We are delighted that we have been able to do this.”
