BBL Week 13 Headlines: Flyers, Phoenix earn big road wins

There were some big road performances in the British Basketball League this past week with more movement in the league standings.

Flyers triumph away at Newcastle

Bristol Flyers secured an impressive 71-89 victory away at Newcastle Eagles to move into the top four. Andreas Kapoulas’ side used a 26-10 final quarter to pull away with Brad Greene leading the way with a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds. New signing CJ Jackson added 20 points in the win.

All-round Phoenix put on a show

Cheshire Phoenix produced another offensive clinic in their 85-104 triumph on the road against Sheffield Sharks. The visitors jumped out to a 31-10 lead and never looked back as Laquincy Rideau top scored with 24 points, and Ethan Chargois added 16 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.

London avenge Plymouth loss, hammer Riders

London Lions were in the mood for revenge this week as they defeated Plymouth City Patriots 91-84 before brushing aside Leicester Riders in a 100-62 rout. Matt Morgan poured in 27 points against Plymouth with the second quarter proving decisive, while it was far more straightforward against Leicester as they eased to the century mark.

Elsewhere, Manchester closed the gap on Surrey Scorchers with an 87-85 victory to start the week as Evan Walshe came up with the game-winner to finish with 22 points. Padiet Wang had 30 for the visitors, but their third quarter comeback was not enough.

The Giants then fell to an 86-80 defeat away at third-placed Caledonia Gladiators on Sunday with the hosts led by double-doubles from Trent Buttrick and Ian Dubose.
