The Great Britain Under-18 men’s squad have returned from a four game preparation tour, splitting their games across Serbia and Ireland.
Craig Nicol’s side went 0-2 against Serbia in Belgrade, before picking up two wins against Ireland in Cork last week.
They opened with a tough 86-61 loss to Serbia on July 6, with their only solace being a victorious fourth quarter when the game was already far out of reach. Latrell Davis led GB with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists, while Nedas Cholevinskas added 17 points.
The next night they showed progress but ultimately went down 74-68 to Serbia, led by a 6-for-6 second half three point shooting display from Cholevinskas who finished with 20, while Davis added another 20-point outing to go with 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
Last week, the side travelled to Ireland, picking up two big wins starting with a 109-80 victory on Wednesday (watch back the live stream here), before a 113-85 win on Thursday. Latrell Davis once again led GB with a 24 and 26 point outing, respectively, while Lane Campbell, Dara Adeyemi and Ben Brown all had 10 each on Wednesday, and Cholevinskas and Brown had 14-apiece on Thursday.
“It’s great to have the GB teams back on court,” Head Coach Craig Nicol told Hoopsfix.
“The team have been working very hard in a short prep window. The guys managed to take good strides forward between the two Serbia games and with two solid scoring performances against Ireland have us in a nice spot heading into our final camp preparations this weekend.”
The team will play at the Division A European Championships from 30th August – July 7th in Izmir, Turkey.
